Public Art
This piece was commissioned in honor of teacher, Fran Call, and her Cyclemates. Each summer between 1969 and 1993 she organized and led groups of 15 Mercer Island Junior High students on long distance bike adventures, four times cycling across the continent. Traveling on average 85 miles a day, without a support vehicle and camping along the way, these intrepid kids made their community proud as they learned lessons to last a lifetime.
The bronze bike sculpture is located in downtown Mercer Island, Washington and is an exact replica of Fran's bike. Robbi was assisted by Ed Kroupa of Two Ravens Studio in the fabrication of this public art piece.
